TYPES OF LEGAL CHILD CARE IN OHIO FAMILY DAY CARE PROVIDER: a person who provides child care in his/her permanent residence.
UNREGULATED CARE: A Type B home not receiving public funds for providing child care. Type B homes are not regulated in Ohio, but may not exceed the Type B numbers of children. CERTIFIED TYPE B: A Type B home that is certified by the County Department of Jobs & Family Services to receive public funds for providing child care to low income families. TYPE A HOME: A permanent residence of a provider that is licensed by the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services to care for either 1) seven to twelve children or 2) four to twelve children when four or more children are under two years.

SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE (SACC): A school age child care program either home or center based. Includes before/after school care as well as summer or holiday care. ILLEGAL CHILD CARE: A center operating without a license or a family day care provider exceeding the number of children allowed. NOTE* NO PERSON WHO HAS BEEN CONVICTED OF OR PLEADED GUILTY TO CHILD ABUSE OR OTHER CRIMES OF VIOLENCE AS LISTED IN SECTION 5104.09 OF THE REVISED CODE SHALL BE EMPLOYED IN ANY CAPACITY IN OR OWN OR OPERATE A CHILD DAY-CARE PROGRAM.
